Our partners over at Milk Not Jails are offering another a la carte delivery of dairy products! You don’t have to be a CSA member to take advantage of delicious, low-temperature pasteurized milk and dairy products from Ronnybrook Farm—anyone who is interested can order. Enjoy amazing products and support criminal justice reform at the same time!

ORDER DEADLINE is Monday, August 20th at 5pm for delivery on Thursday, August 30th (pickup at SCS). Order via webform here.

Fresh, local items abound! They’ve got milk, yogurt, cheese, cream, butter, and some of the best ice cream you’ll ever taste, PLUS breads, sauerkraut and other fermented foods (like hot pepper sauce!)—all for the ordering.

Tomato Shares, Available Now

Good news from our farmers: they have MORE tomato shares ready for this Thursday, if you are interested! The plum tomatoes are ripening nicely, and there will most likely be more tomatoes as the weeks progress, but if you want to jump in early on your tomato canning, here’s your chance.

The farm is taking care of the business side of ordering, so please deal with Golden Earthworm Farm directly according to the instructions below.

Orders will be accepted in the order they are received by e-mail on a first-come, first-served basis. The farm will invoice members directly through Paypal.

$35 for a 20 lb. box of plum canning/sauce tomatoes

Directions for ordering Tomato Shares

  • You MUST INCLUDE the following info in your email:
    Requested number of tomato shares: _____
    Pick-up site: Sunnyside CSA
    Requested week of pick-up: August 23, 2012 (for this week)

The farm is encouraging members to take their shares as soon as possible, as it is possible that they will run out as it gets later in the season.

One more thing: sometimes, the farm also offers tomato seconds (slightly beaten up tomatoes that are still great for canning at a reduced price), but they don’t know yet if or when those will be available. We will let you know as soon as we get word.

CSA Summer BBQ ~ Sat, July 28th

Join us for our barbecue party!

SORRY, the BBQ was CANCELLED due to rain.

It’s Summer BBQ time! Get ready to throw your bounty of zucchini, radicchio and onions (just to name a few) on the grill! Find even more great BBQ items through our partners at Lewis Waite Farm, like bratwurst, steak, even hot dogs! Be sure to place your LWF order by July 22nd for delivery on July 26th.

WHAT: CSA BBQ!
WHEN: July 28th at 4 P.M.
WHERE: Sunnyside Gardens Park 48-21 39th Avenue

Please bring a dish to share along with your grillers of choice. The CSA will provide non-alcoholic drinks, chips charcoal, and paperware. You can bring your own drinks (alcoholic or other) but NO GLASS please!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY ALERT: If you can’t volunteer during our regular CSA set-up and pick-up times, this is a great opportunity to jump in!  We need 2 set-up and 2 clean-up volunteers at the BBQ. Please contact us if you want to pick up one of these shifts. Thanks!
