Sunnyside CSA 2014 Sign Ups

We know the big question on everyone’s mind is- when can I sign up for a CSA share? The answer is: You can sign up NOW!

SIGN UP for Special Product Shares – Summer 2014 SEASON (Deadline: April 25th)

Vegetable shares for the Summer 2014 SEASON are SOLD OUT. To be added to our wait list, please sign-up via webform here.

Looking for a share partner?

If so, post a message on our facebook page (or respond to posts already on there). If you don’t have facebook, Contact Us and we’ll post it for you!

What Can I sign up for?

As of right now, you can sign up for any of our several share plans except the vegetable share, which has sold out. Some, like the kombucha, egg, and ferments shares, have limited numbers and are first-come, first-serve, so if you’re interested in one, don’t delay.  You can view the share plans here.

What if I can’t afford this?

If you want to eat better but are having some financial trouble, don’t worry- we can help. Read more about our Subsidized Share Program.

How do I sign up for my volunteer shift?

We will send an email to current members when the Summer/Autumn 2014 Season volunteer shift calendar is activated. Then, all members will be required to sign up for their volunteer shifts by September 15th, 2014. If you are wondering what your volunteer shift will be like, take a look at our Volunteer Info Page.

Sunnyside CSA Annual Open House

Happy 2014 Sunnyside CSA! Tune in and get ready for the 2014 Summer/Autumn season!

CSA News, Food & Sign-Ups

Our new 2014 Open House is not your average share sign-up soiree. It’s a news, food and sign-ups happening! Plus, a great opportunity to really get to know your CSA:

News: Share your feedback about the season, hear from the core group about the work we did this year, and help determine the direction for next season.

Food: We are excited to host our special product vendors with samples of things you could sign up for this year (if the demand is there)…  and… drumroll please…

Sign-Ups for 2014 Summer/Autumn season! This will be the only in-person sign-up this year- check out our 2014 Summer Share contract here. Sign-ups are on a first-come-first-serve basis, but if you can’t make it to the Open House, we will have online sign-ups soon. Plus, we have more special products coming this summer, like dairy, fish and more— those will be conducted in a separate sign-up later on.

Sunnyside CSA 2014 Open House

Date: Tuesday, February 4th
Time: 7-9 pm
Location: Sunnyside Community Services

With the following vendors confirmed (and others still TBA):

Golden Earthworm Farm
No open house would be complete without our beloved veggie farmers who provide us with amazing vegetables all year round. Hear about their 2013 adventures, give them feedback, and find out what’s in store for 2014!

Enlightenment Wine
Check out wine samples for a potential wine share in 2014!

Big Alice Brewing
If you missed out on our winter beer share, here’s your chance to taste what you missed!

Village Fishmonger
Try their ceviche samples and consider a fish share for 2014!

Booch
Local kombucha and pickles in your CSA? That’s right!

Lewis Waite
Our wonderful partners will have a selection of cheese, bread, raspberry jam, hummus, brittle, ruby sauerkraut, apple bubbly and beef kielbasa, all available through the CSA.

Farmigo
Their year-round, a la carte webstore would give Sunnyside CSA’ers access to year-round veggies and more!

Milk Not Jails
Try their dairy samples and find out about their shares!

A few topics to be covered at the meeting:
– Golden Earthworm Organic Farm update
– Special products update and Lewis Waite product tasting
– Share your thoughts on the CSA and ideas for next season
– Learn about the Subsidized Share Program
– Year-end recap about the CSA’s finances, programs, and policies

We look forward to seeing you there!

Thank you for your feedback!

The results of the 2013 survey—and the future of our CSA—will be discussed at our big Open House meeting on Tuesday, February 4, from 7-9 pm (see above).

Winter Shares, 2012-13 Season

Sign ups are now CLOSED for Winter 2012-13 Shares

There are two kinds of Winter Vegetable Shares: 1. Winter Sun Farms‘ frozen local vegetable share (which you’ve been able to sign up for already); 2. Golden Earthworm’s root vegetable share (available starting now). In addition to veggies, you can also purchase a Cider Share and/or an Apple Share from Golden Earthworm.

The easiest way to sign up is right here, via the web form links below and pay with PayPal. You can also sign up via web form then pay by sending a check to our P.O. box.
Note: Payment must be received by November 15th.

There will be ONE in-person sign up date during regular CSA pickup on November 8th, 5-8pm. If you plan to sign up in-person, please know the details of the shares you are purchasing and *bring your checkbook.*

Read carefully: The sign ups for Winter Sun and Golden Earthworm are separate—if you want both, you must follow the (two) links below and sign up for each share. We have included a $5 admin fee with each share, but if you get both, you only have to pay the admin fee once! Other good news: we do not have a limit to the number of shares we can offer (tell your friends)!

Golden Earthworm (Vegetable share, Cider share, Apple share)

$146 for 5 deliveries of mixed root crops and greens (15-18 lbs per delivery)
Sign up via web form. Review the contract agreement and pricing details and pay with PayPal or mail us a check. Payment must be received by November 15th.

Winter Sun Farms (Frozen Vegetable Share with some fresh greens)

$137 for 5 deliveries of veggies (typically, 6 frozen and 1 fresh (greenhouse pea shoots))
Sign up via web form. Review the contract agreement and pricing details and pay with PayPal or mail us a check. We posted details about the Winter Sun share several months ago on our blog—read more here. Payment must be received by November 15th.

Both vegetable shares complement each other well. Winter Sun collects fresh local farm food over the summer and flash-freezes it for consumption in the winter. Their food tastes really fresh, unlike the frozen food you’re used to getting at the grocery store. Golden Earthworm’s share is mostly root vegetables—things that keep over a long time. So if you sign up for both shares, you won’t get much (if any) overlap between the two.

Winter distribution dates:

6:00-8:00 pm at Sunnyside Community Services

December 20th
January 10th
January 31st
February 21st
March 14th
