NOTES ON THE GOLDEN EARTHWORM VEGGIE SHARE
While summer is “officially” over after Labor Day, we still have plenty of hot weather crops coming in during the month of September. Most notably, Red Tomatoes, Cherry Tomatoes and Green Beans! Our beautiful hard-neck Garlic was cut down out of the barn for you this week too. It’s been hanging up there curing for a few months now. Acorn Squash is easy and delicious roasted in the oven—especially now that the evening temperatures are cooling down. These squash don’t store well since they’re not the curing type, so use them up over the next week or so and keep them in a cool, dry place.

NEWS FROM GOLDEN EARTHWORM FARM
Rain in the forecast for the next few days will give us farmers a break from irrigating and allow us time to catch up on indoor farm activities. We have some mechanical work to do on our tractors and planning for the upcoming fall and winter share seasons. Unfortunately, our wonderful field workers are out there in the pouring rain picking for the deliveries on Wednesday. It’s no fun working outdoors in the heavy rain and deep muddy fields. We’ll certainly appreciate our shares a lot more knowing how hard it was to harvest them this week!
