Cookbook Swap

Tired of your old cookbooks? Looking for new cookbooks? Come swap them and meet some of your neighbors at the same time at the first ever Sunnyside CSA Cookbook Swap!

There’s a new sitting area to the right of the playground- there, we’ll have a table set up with coffee and treats for all (feel free to bring your own treats to share, and mugs to avoid using disposable cups.)

Bring your cookbooks for swapping. And don’t worry – you’ll get to take home whatever is not taken!

Potluck in the Park

Bring your family and friends to our annual Sunnyside CSA potluck BBQ in Sunnyside Gardens Park!
DATE: Wednesday, July 21, 2010
TIME: 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.
LOCATION: Sunnyside Gardens, 48-21 39th Avenue
FOOD: Please bring a dish to share with your fellow neighbors. Sunnyside CSA will provide non-alcoholic beverages, plates and utensils. We are asking that you help us in being green and bring your own cup. If you want to help even further, please bring your own reuseable plate and utensils!

Win a backstage tour of the Metropolitan Opera!
We will be raffling off a private backstage tour of the Met for four people (the date will be determined by the Met and the raffle winner). You can buy raffle tickets on our Thursday nite pick-ups, or at the potluck. All proceeds from the raffle go towards our subsidized share program.
You don’t need to be present at the drawing to win!

Tickets are:

1 ticket / $5.00
3 tickets / $10.00
10 tickets / $20.00

Please note:
There is a $2 per non-Sunnyside Gardens Park Member (this fee goes directly to the Gardens and does not benefit Sunnyside CSA).
Glass bottles are not allowed in Sunnyside Gardens Park.

Season Kick-off Social at Claret Wine Bar

Come join us for our CSA’s first event of the season, a wine social at Claret Wine Bar on Monday, June 21, at 7pm.
Have some great wine, meet your neighbors and enter to win great prizes from local businesses, including Dee Thai and Pure Spa.

That’s right, we’re having a raffle, the proceeds of which benefit our subsidy share program!
Raffle tickets will be available at the social event as well as our share pick-ups on June 10 and 17, so bring some cash!
Enter as often as you wish for some great local Sunnyside prizes!

End of Season Town Hall

The Grind
We are hosting a Town Hall Meeting for CSA current and prospective members. The Town Hall Meeting is an opportunity for us to get together, hear feedback from you about the season, hear from the core group about the work we did this year, and plan for next season.

On the Agenda:
-Update from the farm (meet the farmers!)
– Learn about Core Group Positions and opportunities for you to get involved with the Core Group next season
– Share your thoughts on the CSA and hopes for next season
– Summary of Events and ideas for the winter share season and next season - Learn about the Subsidized Share Program
– Year-end reports on the CSA’s finances, programs, and policies

We will provide coffee and snacks but please feel free to support the Grind, a local Sunnyside business establishment.

BBQ at Sunnyside Gardens Park

Sunnyside Gardens Park, 39th Ave between 48th and 50th Streets
We will host our annual potluck BBQ at the Sunnyside Gardens Park.
Bring your protein of choice to grill and a dish to share. The CSA will provide charcoal, papergoods, and non-alcoholic drinks.
There is a fee of $2 per person to use the park, which will go to the Sunnyside Gardens Park.

At the BBQ we’ll be doing another raffle to benefit our Subsidized Shares.
CSA member Dorothy Morehead is donating her cabin in the Adirondacks for a fun filled fall weekend.

Happy Hour Raffle at Claret

Claret Wine Bar, 4602 Skillman Ave (@46th Street)
Join your fellow Sunnyside CSAers for a glass of wine at Sunnyside’s very own wine bar – Claret.
We’ll be raffling off another great pair of tickets to see the Mets vs. Rockies on July 29th.
Join us for a glass of wine, great music, or a bite to eat. We’ll raffle the pair of tickets off at 7:30pm. Live Jazz begins at 8pm.
Raffle tickets are $5 each. Tickets are available for purchase at the Thursday night pick ups (July 16th and 23rd) and will also be available the night of the raffle. The money raised from the raffle goes to support our subsidized share program.

Season Opener Potluck

7:30pm – 10:30pm
All Saints Church, 46th street and 43rd avenue (enter on 46th St.)
Come join your fellow CSAer’s for the first potluck of the season. Please bring food to share for 6-8 ppl.
If you want to be green please bring your own plates, cutlery and glasses. We’ll have paper goods for those who don’t bring their own.
Don’t forget, we’ll be raffling 2 tickets to the Yankees vs Mariners baseball game to raise money for our low-income subsidy program. Raffle tickets are $5 each. Game is Thursday, July 2nd, 7pm.
