Fruit & Veggies in the Box–July 27

Who’s ready for corn?! It’s in the box this week, along with some other tasty vegetables. If you are part of the Fruit Share this season, you’ll also receive a container of blueberries.

All pickups are July 27th at Sunnyside Community Services from 5-8pm.

Sweet Corn – Delicious and ready to eat right away. Note that because these are organic, there may be an earworm in the tip. Just cut it off and enjoy the rest. If you’re corn has been damaged by a worm, let Golden Earthworm know and they’ll replace it next week. Use within 2 days.

Red Long Onions – Another gourmet onion–these ones are particularly yummy in salads.  Use within a week.

Carrots – Sweet and crunchy. It’s best to separate the tops from the carrots before storing. Use within 5 days.

Green Batavian Lettuce – A nice summer lettuce, this variety is similar to Romaine, but a slightly softer texture. Use within a week.

Cucumber or Zucchini – These two are currently in rotation, both great summer veggies. Use within a week.

Garlic  – This variety of garlic is comes from a seed that is found in limited quantities–so lucky us for getting some of it! Use within a week.

Please note that any boxes not picked up by 8pm will be donated to SCS, and items are subject to change. Look for Golden Earthworm Organic Farm CSA on Facebook for more recipes from members!
