Winter Market is Coming!

It’s time for our annual holiday market, and this year it kicks off the first day of Winter Shares!

The holiday market is a chance to showcase local vendors, while giving you an easy one-stop location for holiday shopping. This year we’re featuring nine local vendors, including handmade accessories, soap, yummy treats and more.

Come check it out December 13th from 5:00-8:00pm.

Hey CSAers! It’s your friendly reminder that tomorrow is the members-only day to visit the farm where all our delicious vegetables come from.

CSA HARVEST FESTIVAL 2018!

WEATHER UPDATE: Perfect fall weather – cool, crisp & sunny!  Wear a light jacket and rain boots!

This event is held at the farm in Riverhead.
652 Peconic Bay Blvd, Riverhead

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14th from 11am-3pm

This is a private event open to all current CSA Members
and their guests only
.  No RSVP needed.
  FREE!

AVOID THE TRAFFIC!  
Plan on arriving at the farm at 11am when we open.
The traffic (heading east) on the North Fork is crazy if you plan on arriving in the early afternoon.  Heading home (west) should be fine.

What to bring?
Please bring a picnic lunch and lawn chairs or a blanket.
Wear sturdy shoes for walking around the farm!  Strollers are welcome but please leave your pets at home.  (Per food safety regulations.)

The time slots are 10:45am-12:45pm or 12:45pm-2:45pm.

Strawberry Picking June 17

Take a ride with us to visit Golden Earthworm Organic Farm and pick all the sweet strawberries you want (first pint is free!).

Strawberry season is underway, and Golden Earthworm Farm is offering u-pick strawberries to CSA members only. You’re welcome to drive out to the farm on your own, but to make it even easier, we’ve chartered a bus!

When: Saturday, June 17th
Bus Pick up: 8:30am at Sunnyside Community Services
Bus Return: 5:30/6:00pm
Suggested Donation: $5 per person / $10 per family (kids free)

All veggie share members get a free quart of strawberries. Want more than a pint? Pick as much as you’d like for only $4.50/pint.

Open House–Spring Share Sign Ups, Dosas, Fruit Share Raffle and More!

If you’re ready for the veggies, come to the Sunnyside CSA Open House for a fun evening celebrating local food and preparing for the 2016 season.

Not only will you be able to sign up for vegetable shares from Golden Earthworm Organic Farm and fruit shares from Briermere Farms, but you will also:

–Meet the Golden Earthworm farmers and get a preview of their plans for 2016
–Meet representatives from Lewis Waite Farms and try free samples of their offerings
–Enter a raffle to win a free fruit share
–Purchase chef Anup Joshi’s dosas (gluten free with meat and veg options)
–Apply for a subsidized share
–Learn more about Sunnyside Community Services and how they impact our community
–Tell the CSA Core Team what matters to you. You can even join us. We’re looking for an Events Coordinator and always have room for passionate team members

And most of all, meet your fellow locavores and food lovers!

(All proceeds benefit the subsidized share program.)

Golden Earthworm Farm Fest–Sunday, October 18

Join us for our annual CSA Harvest Festival on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18th from 11am to 3pm.  Good food, cooking demos, kids’ activities, live music, walking tours and more!  Come meet your farmers and see how and where we grow your food.
This event is held at our farm on the North Fork – 652 Peconic Bay Blvd, Riverhead, NY

In The Box 9-10-15 + Cookbook Swap!

Too many cookbooks crowding your shelf? Need some kitchen inspiration? Join us Thursday, September 10th, for the first annual Sunnyside CSA Cookbook Swap! Bring a book, take a book. Share your favorite recipes with your fellow CSA’ers or bring home a new favorite. Unclaimed cookbooks at the end of the night will be donated to the Queens Library.

Sunnyside CSA’s Evening Soiree in the Garden

Meet your fellow CSA members, swap recipes, and learn about the Sunnyside Community Garden over drinks and appetizers. Join us for a summer social on Saturday, July 25th from 5pm to 7pm at the Sunnyside Community Garden (corner of 50th Street and Barnett Avenue). We’ll provide some mixers, cheese, crackers, and light snacks; bring any finger foods you’d like to share and your choice of beverage. Non-members are welcome, just let us know on your RSVP how many people are in your party.
